Late last week when we were learning about dissolving solides in liquids, students made a shape using a pipecleaner that we put into hot water with Borax dissolved in it. As we saw in the beaker, the water cooled and the Borax turned into crystals on their pipe cleaners. I will be sending them home with students tomorrow, but I wanted to inform you that
THEY ARE NOT EDIBLE. They look very much like the homemade rock candy that can be made using the same process, but are made of Borax and should not be consumed. Thank you.
